Stepping into your place
Some moments in life carry real significance that we only fully realise as we reflect on it.
We arrived at, what seemed to be, a random house down a maze of allies, someone in the vehicle states “We are here”, we climb out of the car and are ushered into a concrete building tightly packed against rows and rows of houses. A generator is blaring away as the government regularly cuts the power and they want to honor the men of God with electric fans on the hot & humid day. We are walked over to a table and chairs with fresh fruit that cost them God knows what. As we look across the room we see 20 - 30 faces gazing at us, beaten by the hot sun and rough life, their eyes telling the story of what they have had to walk through. The interpreter begins to give us the context, they are all Hindu, they have never heard the Gospel before in their lives & they are waiting to listen to what these missionaries have to say.
What a privilege, what a moment in history for these people, what and opportunity.
A sense of eternity wells up on the inside of me, I know every word must count, “help me Holy Spirit”, Jesus said the Holy Spirit would teach us in that very hour what we ought to say, I was relying on the Greater One to speak through my mouth the words that will cause faith to rise in their hearts.
I talked about what Jesus had done for me, that He was a good God, that He paid the price, took our place & died on the Cross for our sins, that the Father raised Him from the dead because we were made right with God & that they need to repent to receive Him as Lord & Saviour. The room was electric, they responded with earnest as hands shot up to receive Jesus for the first time.
As I reflect on this moment, I realise I was stepping into the place God has for me, taking the Gospel to those who have not heard.
I had covered the needs in church for years, I would cover but others would come into those places and replace me & be awesome. Stepping into this place made sense, I was wired up this way to fit here, God had made me for this purpose.
What a joy, to take the message of Jesus to this people, they heard it delivered in the power of the Holy Spirit & their lives have been changed forever, to God be the glory!
Have you found your place? If not, I encourage you to keep at it, God is preparing you even if you don’t see it, He’s preparing you for what He has prepared for you.
